Ferdinando, Joseph, Augustin, André and Huguette Fauteux
Huguette (Fauteux) Scalabrini, 86 years old, resident of Ansonia, CT, for fifty-nine years, died on October 7, 2026 at Griffin Hospital in Derby, CT. She was the beloved wife of André J. Scalabrini (son of the late Augustin Scalabrini and Irene Perreault), with whom she shared sixty-two years of marriage.
Born in East Hereford, Quebec, on September 21, 1940, Huguette was the daughter of the late Gérard Fauteux and Laurette Tétrault. For many years she worked as a housekeeper. She found great inner peace in keeping her house clean and tidy, creating a warm and welcoming space for her family. Family was everything to Huguette. She cherished her large family and possessed the rare gift of maintaining close ties with each of her family. She had made it her mission to stay in touch with every member of her family. Huguette particularly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, who were her whole life. She was an exceptional cook, and she loved to bring everyone around her table. We will miss her very much.
In addition to her husband, André, Huguette is survived by her son, Daniel Scalabrini of Ansonia, her daughter, Sylvie Scalabrini-Gavaletz of Ansonia, her grandchildren, Timothy Gavaletz of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Thomas Gavaletz of Walpole, Massachusetts, her many siblings of the Fauteux family, all from Quebec, Canada. His in-laws Scalabrini, André’s family: the late Roger (the late Annette), Lucille (the late Laurent), the late Marcel (the late Cécile), Carmen (the late Gaétan), Lorraine, Germain (the late Jeannine), the late Raymond (Carmelle), and the late Maurice (Carole); his nephews and nieces as well as many other relatives and friends.
Parents and friends are invited to offer their condolences to the family on Monday, October 12, 2026, from 9:30 am to 11:00 am, at the chapel of the Spinelli-Ricciuti Funeral Home, located at 62 Beaver Street, Ansonia, CT, USA. A commemorative ceremony in honor of Huguette will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the same location. Burial will immediately follow at Mount Saint Peter Cemetery, Derby, CT.
